Topic:   Works Order Notes

By: SimonQPosted on: May 5 2022 at 03:43:12 AM
When I open an existing works order, I can't edit the comments/notes area at the bottom left of the window.

Sales Order and Purchase Order notes are editable even once they have been completed, but not works orders.

I would like to be able to add notes to this field after the work has been done to record things such as where a PCB assembly needed rework or why one of the the assemblies had to be scrapped.

Is there a reason why this field is not editable?

Thanks,
Simon.

I don't know. I think they want it to be locked at the moment of completion.

Right Click the Work Order and select the UnDo option. This take it back to WIP. You should then be able to edit. And then Complete it again.

Sorry, I was not clear. I would like to enter text into that box when the work is physically done, but before the W/O is completed.

Currently, you can only enter text into the box when creating the works order. Once it is created the box is not editable.

Ah. Sorry. Now I understand. Let me check and get back to ypu.

OK. I see what you mean.

When looking at the BOM nothing can be edited. The comments appear in the lower left corner and that can't be edited. I assume you're trying to edit the comments there.

To edit comments - at any stage of the work order process - Menu bar to the left of the program window select "View Work Orders" to bring up the list of your work orders. One row for each work order.

There's columns for work order number, start/end dates etc. Also a column for the comments. Click into the comments cell and the box expands to allow editing.

Please try that and let us know that it works (or doesn't work)

Thank you, I didn't think to try editing the comments column in the list of work orders.

I think it would be more intuitive to be able to edit the comments box when viewing the BoM (up to the point where it is 'finished'), but this will certainly do for what I need to do.

Regards,
Simon.
