I have a works order for 100 pcs of assembly A. I have allocated the material and built 50 of these assemblies until now. Then, I discovered I will not be able to finish all 100 pcs of the assembly A, but only 80. What can I do here? I cannot change the quantity of the works order. Nor I can undo the works order, as that will remove the 50 assemblies from my inventory.

Undo the work order. That returns all items to you inventory but doesn't delete the work order. Then youbcan change the work order quantity and re-issue the work order for the new quantity.
Sounds complicated the the way I explain it but it's just a few clicks.
