Topic:   tracking products on pallets

By: RockyPosted on: Jan 25 2021 at 09:51:30 AM
We are a stone manufacturer. All products are stacked on individual pallets. We track and sell the stone by square feet...but sell everything on pallets. For example, we might have 30 pallets of the same stone...but in different quantities. How can I set things up where each pallet has its own ID number?

Hi Rocky,

Can't you make an assembly for each pallet, 1 x pallet + n x stone?

Steve.

thanks for reply.
I created individual assemblies for each type of stone and color. For any particular assembly we might have anywhere from 0 to 30 pallets in warehouse (of that type and color stone). My intention is to be able to go to the "assembly list" and see both the total quantity of that assembly- and a list of the pallets that make up the total quantity.....

if every pallet we used had a serial number, could I use one of the "fields" for tracking that particular serial number? BIN field or custom field?

Could the assembly number be the pallet serial number?

If each assembly number included the pallet serial number, I think I would end up with infinite number of assemblies..maybe i'm wrong..i'm new to this.

The way I have it set up now is with 52 assemblies..each assembly being a Type of stone and color. If we manufacture 500 SF of one of the assemblies, they will be packaged on 5 different pallets. when i go to the assembly list...then click (view/edit)on any particular assembly...which takes you to the "item detail" page....(Supplier, Purchase Order, Customer Orders, History, Custom Fields....) Is there a way to use the "Custom Field" to list the individual pallet numbers of that particular assembly...The reason I'm trying to track this is because certain pallets are going to specific jobs..

Yes, you can use a "Custom Fields" (just rename it on screen) then use the "show/hide column" to see to on your main screen, you can then search and filter on the new field.

I'll give it a go. Thanks for your help, Steve.
