Is there a way to update the entire inventory item number count by importing from a csv so that the number in the imported field over-writes what is in the mrp database?
I'm thinking of during an end of year stock take.

Yes. If you open the 'Inventory' you'll see a CSV import button.
You can select a CSV file and at the bottom of the window is a Checkbox "Update Qty....". Place a checkmark in that box.
On the other hand, if you're just looking for a quick way to key in quantities you can open the 'All Components' list, unlock the lock, and just cursor your way down the quantities column.
