Topic:   Special Characters in Data

This may have previously been answered in an older post that I overlooked. My apologies if so. I'm in the process of importing our data into MiniMRP 5.0 for SQL Server. I have special characters in the data. Should I be concerned with it causing a hiccup either during the import or later with the data?

I'm going through line for line in my .csv prior to the upload removing all commas in the description and detail description fields. Also, looking for both single and double quotes indicating feet and inches to consider removing. Preferably we can keep them. Technically, I want to make sure they are compatible to include without a hiccup. Also, are any other special characters a concern?

Thank you.

You are correct to be worried. Some characters such as single quotes have special meaning in SQL syntax and are known to cause problems when migrating between database.

But MiniMRP should not be affected.

So please leave your special characters in your data and try the import. If it fails please email and we'll do our best to have the software updated so you can import correctly even with your special characters in place.
