Topic:   Rev change after Wor Order Allocated

If a BOM has a part with a assembly or component with a rev change, and you update the BOM without rev ing the BOM, will the work order ask for the new rev OR do you have to deallocate and start over to get it to recognize the new rev and demand?

If the work order is in the "ALLOCATED" state and while the assembly is in that state you make changes to the assembly. When you move to the ISSUED/WIP state then it will issue the new assembly.

But if the Work Order was already issued (WIP) then it assumes that you've already taken the parts and started work so changing the assembly can't affect the WO that's already WorkInProgress

Is this correct?

If i replace a part in a BOM, and i still have works order in either "Allocated" or "Issued", they get updated with the new part. It would be great if they did not, but thats what i have found.

Its a bit of a pain, becuase if you plan to do a change, once the current stock of part is used, you can't have works orders for some of each, you have to create a new assembly, and is it's a sub asembly, that is quite a process.

If the work order is in the "Allocated" and you change an assembly or sub assembly then when you move to the ISSUE`d state then it will issue the new BOM.

If the work order is already issued and you change an assembly then the issued work order can not be changed because it's already work in progress.

I am not sure this is what i am seeing.

I have a works order, been allocated and issued. Showing as WIP.

If i then replace a component in the assembly, and go back to the works order, as if i was going to complete the build, i can see the assembly list (with the works order quantities) has now been updated with the replaced part.

I have not actually pressed the complete button, but it looks to me as if it's going to remove the new replaced part, not the orginal.

Sorry. I think maybe I'm not being clear enough.

When you put a work order into the ISSUED/WIP stage that is the moment when MiniMRP takes the components from your inventory.

So if the work order is already issued, components already taken out of your inventory, then any changes to the assembly HAVE NO EFFECT on work orders that are already in WIP.
