Topic:   Part (supplier price) randomly changes to zero

By: GuestPosted on: Jan 17 2023 at 07:25:00 AM
We have been noticing that various component costs (supplier price) show up as zero. I didn't purchase these parts recently and I didn't have the auto update set. We first noticed this on an assembly we were going to produce again and we were shocked to see most of the component costs as zero.

I see this too...very frustrating! I've been tracking these costs to see if there's a pattern. There isn't one. One day a part has a cost and the next day it is 0. No one has changed it. Is there a setting that says after a specific time period, the value of components is devalued to zero?

@Reyna. No. There is no setting that says to set a value to zero after a specific time period. I don't think such a setting would be useful anyway.

MiniMRP is actually pretty Dumb. It wouldn't know how to set things to zero even if it wanted to. And there's no 'reset/zero' button or option that you can click to make it happen.

Here's a couple of things I can think of that would do it. ie not just one random item but a whole bunch of them at once.

Importing a list of components from CSV that already exist in the inventory. If you selected to import the cost column but that column in the CSV was zero then that would overwrite the cost of the existing items.

If a component has multiple suppliers and one of the alternate suppliers had no price and you deleted the default supplier then in all that supplier's parts an alternate supplier would be promoted with that new supplier's price.

I would say that nobody else has ever reported this. But I will take some time to go through things to see if I can think of any reason why it would/could happen.
