I understand why someone would choose "Obsolete" for a component, but what situation would they use the "Hide" option? What is the purpose of "Hide"?

If you have the Enterprise version of MiniMRP with multiple locations. When you make an item "Obsolete" it becomes invisible in all locations.
If you make an item "hidden" it is only invisible in "your" current location. Other locations can continue to see and use that item.
If you have the standard version of minimrp: default and hidden are basically the same because you only have one location.
But it's up to you how you use it. You may have obsolete items that you're quite sure are obsolete and other items that you're not sure about. Just two separate areas to do with as you please.

I have made an inventory item obsolete - Does anyone know how to un obsolete it or to show obsolete items?

When looking at "All Components" there's a menu button in the top right corner. Click that and select the option to view obsolete items. You can then, as you say, 'UnObsolete' them.
