BoM of customer order Assembly is not exploding all of the way and showing demand for lower level sub-assemblies.

I think I understood the first line of your question about sub assemblies not 'exploding'. If your sub assemblies are type CSAS then they don't explode.
I didn't understand the rest of your question. It's difficult for me to understand your BOM without actually seeing it. Maybe best if you email and we can exchange some screenshots.
