I've spent quite a bit of time inputting the costs of each component and assembly. When I create a customer order, it's important to know the cost of goods sold (COGS), but I can't find it anywhere. Am I missing something?

Would it help if the customer order window showed a column with the item cost?

yes. That is exactly what is needed.
Another nice cost feature would be the COGS and sum for all shortage items.

I agree with need to show cost on customer order and sum of shortages.
